You planned a visit to the Abbey Museum and want to add extra cachet to your day trip, weekend or holiday? Koksijde has a lot to offer.

Naturally!

One of the reasons why so many people come to our coastal town every year, is the unspoilt nature. Enjoy 700 ha of natural landscapes! With wide beaches and mighty dune views including the view from Belgium’s highest dune : the ‘Hoge Blekker’, which the Dune Lords also knew.

Get your taste buds working!

Koksijde also has a lot to offer to the gourmets among us. Of course, we recommend tasting our abbey beer at the Sint-Idesbald brewery in Ten Bogaerde, a former outbuilding of the abbey. But there are many more possibilities. During the summer, you can relax in one of the beach bars. All year round, you can eat and drink on the seafront with a view of the sea. Discover other top restaurants praised by Gault & Millau, among others. Or drop by one of the local merchants. In Koksijde, you will find many fine bakers, fishmongers, butchers, caterers,…

A unique seaside municipality

All the facilities of a city combined in a cosy municipality : go shopping, have a delicious meal at a restaurant, catch a film at the cinema and relax afterwards in a local B&B or hotel.

Koksijde boasts three seaside resorts : Koksijde, Oostduinkerke and Sint-Idesbald. Each has its own character and specialties. While Sint-Idesbald is known as an art resort, Koksijde is the bustling heart with its many events and impressive town hall, and Oostduinkerke remains inextricably linked to the caviar of the North Sea : shrimps ! And especially to those who fish for them : the shrimp fishermen on horseback.

With Wulpen, Koksijde also has a rural asset where you can relax among the cows and along the canal.

Did someone say "sports"?

In Koksijde, you can get some fresh air with a morning jog along the beach, go mountain biking in the dunes, practice water sports in the sea, discover fantastic cycling and walking routes, play a round of golf at Koksijde Golf ter Hille, or, why not, rent a go-kart with your whole group on the sea dike? If the sea is too cool during the summer, you can visit the heated outdoor swimming pool in Oostduinkerke.

Culture for every hour

Discover everything about fishing and walk under the impressive skeleton of sperm whale Valentijn in NAVIGO Fisheries Museum, marvel at the world-famous works of painter Paul Delvaux at the Paul Delvaux Museum, let your heart for contemporary art beat faster in arts centre Ten Bogaerde, go back in time at crafts museum ’t Krekelhof and boost your biology level when seeing the many animal skeletons in natural history museum MuseOS.
